FEDERAL VACCINATION AND TESTING MANDATES
Employers are now debating mandatory vaccination and testing for their employees. It is a balance between safety and legal rights for their employees and best business practices. President Biden’s executive order requires vaccinations for all federal employees and those working at healthcare facilities that receive Medicare and Medicaid. Private companies, with more than one hundred employees, have the option to vaccinate or test weekly. Federal government employees will be asked to attest to their vaccination status. Anyone who does not attest or is not vaccinated will be required to mask at all times, test one to two times per week, socially distance, and generally will not be allowed to travel for work. It is early, Congress has not acted. Tennessee does not have the same mandates as of today, but the time is now to consider what to do for your business and employees
These times are wrought with employers having to address these issues head on and inform their employees of the business decisions. Litigation is happening all over on these issues. The employers who make informed, well reasoned decisions now can protect themselves.
